[As the team in Esdham handles the Mog Network device they found, the screen springs to life. That is, it’s covered in gray snow while Mordecai fiddles with the device found in the Ruins of Roalie.]

Hello, anyone hear me? [An older man’s voice is heard before the image clears up: the Barkeep’s familiar old face fills up the screen, though now he is framed by long black locks. He taps the screen with a finger.] See? Told ya I’m a natural.

[Being from the future and married to a tech person helps with strategically pushing buttons on strange machines.]

If y’all can hear this, I’mma let you know that I’m okay, we’re by the airship, don’t know where everyone is, and my hair grew out. [He brushes a black lock out behind his ear.] And now we got holophones or somethin’. Signal must be terrible out here in the middle of nowhere, can’t blame ‘em for not buildin’ no towers out here. Makes you wonder why they even left one of those OS crystals out here, unless--

[The flat-as-ever voice of Sparks Nevada can be heard piping up behind the Barkeep.]

Quit ramblin’, Barkeep. People ain’t here to listen to yer tech advice, and we don’t know how much juice this thing’s got. Just tell ‘em about the vision or whatever already.

Oh yeah, Sparks and Rialynn are here and totally fine. [No biggie.]

Right, now that vision of the future I got just as I woke. [Adding emphasis on the mystical concept of ~future~] We were fightin’ Kalki, only possessin’ Ramza like we last saw her, ‘cause the actual Kalki - her body, not her spirit - is deader than a doornail. Dunno where we were, but there’re crystals everyone, floatin’ platforms, too, and she sent that dragon summon Bahamut after us. We killed that thing pretty darn good, but then it got angry and grew a couple stories taller before gettin’ a second wind. That’s all I got before we had to head out. I got some food that’ll last a few days, but other than that, it’s empty as heck out here.

[Sparks’s face comes into view alongside Barkeep’s as he finished up, slowly pushing him out of view. The Barkeep’s cheek smushes against his mouth, preventing him from speaking.]

( if you listen closely, the sound of an unforgiving palm meeting a forehead echoes in the background… )

Dangit Barkeep I said keep it brief. Reckon some of you mighta heard that voice when we got knocked outta battle, right? That was the Queen, right? Told us to rest up cuz we’d need our energy to fight Kalki. Or Ramza, I guess. Said it was all she could do to help us stop the Cycle. I’m thinkin’ she mighta put us out for a little too long… Anyway, uh. Someone else is out there, right? We’re not just talking to ourselves, are we?

( there’s an exasperated sigh, as an orange hand made of hair makes an attempt to grab hold of the device for herself, while her arms stay crossed. A less-than-familiar looking Midna comes into view finally, wondering what it was she did exactly to deserve this fate. Both the company she had been forced into, as well as that whole end of the world thing. )

What these gentlemen are trying to say, I’m sure, is that if there’s anyone out there that can hear this transmission… ( or perhaps someone in particular— ) It would be in all of our best interests to re-group or at least share anything we’ve learned with one another.

( and then, a slightly muttered… ) If you haven’t all gone and gotten yourselves killed yet, at least.

Mars

Once stepping through the portal, dusty red plains and an alien sky greet the Heroes. Sparks Nevada and the Barkeep return to the latter's canon point just outside Town, and judging from their excitement, this can only be one place: Mars. Various characters will be there to talk with the Heroes and ask what the heck is going on.

The Space Saloon will be run by Barkeep's employees as the owner himself will rush home to meet up with his wife, The Troubleshooter. [Insert something where Sparks Nevada will be? Red will be there. Gork and his baby can do something, too.], and character will be able to visit those locations.

However, unsurprisingly, all is not well on Mars! Robots/Murdermen/an interplanetary mob are robbing the local bank, and they plan to return to their secret base, where a portal has opened up. They won't be able to make a quick getaway because they need to spend 10 minutes arguing what its deal is, what do to with it, and whose turn it is to carry the bags.

...Though if they're Murdermen the plot will have to change.
forcegalactic: (HUGE POTATAHS)
Ramza Beoulve - a casual outfit that's suited to going out to the city for fun and socializing. And if he ever has a date, he'll have something appropriate to the occasion!
Sparks Nevada - a small pile of cookies to snack on while on the job. They're shaped like stars.
K'Pandolu Tohka - fireproof gloves
Rukia Kuchiki - a big container of spiced apple cider
Minako Aino - a whiteboard with a variety of colored markers. With it is a note: "Use this to help keep track of people and their relationships. Careful not to let anyone take a peek at it."
Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca - A bottle of mulled wine.

Sparks Nevada
My good friend the marshal on Mars. Just as ready to right wrongs on Crystallis. Still just a rash.
Minako Aino
I take back about you being a nosy teenager. Let's share gossip and set up people on dates forever.
Sephiroth
Most likely to burn down a village. Not very motivated to change that career path.
K'pandolu Tohka
Seems like a nice kid. A bit rash from what she told me about using bombs to start campfires.
Ramza Beoulve
Roommate and son. Will always protect. Kind of an idiot when it some to romance and the real world, but he has a good heart.
Keiko Yukimura
Nice housekeeping neighbor. Surprisingly normal...too normal...
Saori Nakagawa
She's a goddess? Of homemaking? Still nice to talk to.
Ace
Time to complain about Cid together.
Zelda
She always was a bit of a worrywort, but such a fine young lady didn't deserve to die like that.
Vincent Valentine
Too much brooding and an awful conversationalist. I'm learning some interesting things about him from his Moogle instead.
Lydia Deetz
She's a good kid, took care of me when I was injured and very perceptive.
Reno
Doesn't care about his reputation.
Cloud Strife
Youth from the same world Tifa and Sephiroth are. Doesn't know about his awful future, but he's kind of shy from what I'm seen.
Albel Nox
Rude.
Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca
A really young widow. Calm and nice to chat with.
I'm gonna miss her...
Jade Curtiss
Military guy. Seems smart, but didn't exactly think through using Meteor on that fight.
Rukia Kuchiki
Volunteered to explore the sewers with me. Is some kinda reaper spirit. Pretty reckless.
Rialynn Kollmann
Musician at the Space Saloon. I ship her with Ramza, but that mind controller did something horrible to her.
The Adventurer
Knows how to host a barbeque. A good neighbor, even if he has a tendency to get all edgy with that "Warrior of Darkness" title.
Yuffie Kisaragi
Loud and confrontational. Needs help with politics.
Santa
Well, maybe you should just work on your attitude!
Deadpool
DON'T KILL MY SON OR HIS GIRLFRIEND AND JOKE ABOUT IT. Go make your army and stay away.
Nanami Kiryuu
Scared kid. Wonder why she was picked.
Ryoji Kaji
Knows a thing or two about planning. A responsible adult, one that we all need.

Mysidian Discovery, July 27th

Video games are a hobby that can be enjoyed by all ages, especially those from societies where technology is a pretty dang big deal. Why not take a break?

Unfortunately, it seems that all they have are old-fashioned arcade and puzzle games. No RPGs. Galactic Empire Simulator V is looong out of the Mysidian's scope. There aren't even characters with personalities he can write for. He doesn't want to vocally complain after all the work they put into it, but playing yet another platformer will be the opposite of fun.

So off he goes to the information booth to give his suggestions and a nudge further along the evolution of video games.

"So, for example, I was thinkin' about games more for the relaxed crowd. Nothin' fast paced, maybe closer to exploration? Make a dungeon, put the player in it, have 'em explore and fight monsters. Heck, make it text-based!"

The poor Elezen at the booth doesn't even know what to do. She writes down some of what he says, thinking she can push these notes off to her boss of the programmers.

Mini Trano Golsaucia, July 28th and 29th

Meetings and attempts and encouraging people to keep on trucking is exhausting. This old man needs a break, and he'll spend most of it at knocking down cans.

This was a lot easier when he could shoot lasers out of his chest, but he can't give up. There goes the ball...and it grazes past a can, only managing to nudge it.

The stand attendant has noticed his poor luck. She wishes she could tell him that he shouldn't waste his money, but...this is the Trano Golsaucia part. They want everyone to give him all there money. She stays silent.

"Okay, okay, I'm gonna try this again. Gotta get my throwin' arm ready!" He jokes, and pays for another round.

Space Saloon, every July 27th to August 02 during Fireworks

Considering how much he was bothered by the fireworks in Aqures Tosf, you'd expect Mordecai to complain about being forced to stay up late night after night. This wasn't the case this year, as he had not come in from a fierce battle, traded words with Kalki, and had to suffer crushed ribs until someone was kind enough to heal his wounds. Now that he's properly well rested, he can enjoy the festivities like a normal person.

Every night, he has his best beer kegs out on the counter: bottomless beer every midnight until 1 in the morning, all for 1000 gil!

This is great for business. Noisy, but a ludicrous business plan.
