Letter
Dear Harriet,
I know that my last letter never reached you, and neither did my letters to the Marshal and Felton. I don't know why I'm writing this, but I hope you can somehow feel my intention. My greatest desire is that the feelings in this letter are transmitted to their destination, wherever you are. I found your work console and I can't stop thinking what they must have done to you.
Not that I ever stopped thinking of you for one moment.
I've been keeping some of the prizes I got from the mad scientist's vending machine for you. For the day I get out of here and get my powers back. There's people that mean something to me here, and a lot that deserve another chance to live. Once we get out of here, I want to take some of them to Mars, see our Saloon, have a chance to stay with people that look after them. Have some fun together, get to meet the rest of town. They're all from a thousand years in the past; I'm sure they'll love learning about the future. It really is a wonder that we can live on another planet when you think about it.
I'm doing my best to find a way out. Too many people aren't feeling good, and as mayor and wielder of cosmic powers, it's my job to help out. I promise I won't do anything to cause you to worry (you know I would never do that) but after saving the universe, I don't think escaping should be any less daunting. But hang on a little longer, won't you?
[The written line here is a bit blurry as if something wet fell on them.]
You'll never see this letter. I don't know why I'm doing this. I keep on writing and writing and it's not helping. I want to see you again, I want to hold you again. I'll never let the Conductor forget whatever he or his cronies did to you.
It's painful enough when I have to wait for months until you come home from work. I can't believe how hard it must be for you when I'm in another universe, stuck with a man that wants to see us dead. But just wait for me a little longer.
I love you.
Please don't worry too much.
I can't wait to be with you.
Forever yours,
Mordecai
