Personality:
As the owner of a saloon in a futuristic space cowboy series, Barkeep is occupied with the simple things: serving customers, making sure there's no trouble in his place, keeping his wife happy, and using his cosmic space powers for minor tasks and his own amusement. His saloon is often a casual hangout for the heroes and a stage for villains to make their grand entrance, much to his chagrin.

He is heavily motivated by getting rid of conflict around him, though he is not a physically fit man. Any possibility of a fight or trouble, and he's jumping it, even if it's completely harmless. It primarily stemmed from making sure his wife was relaxed at home after a stressful day at work, but eventually became one of the biggest parts of his interests. That, and he's very nosy. He likes having things be organized, sometimes taking it to ridiculous extents once he gets space powers, like rearranging the stars into rows and columns or "improving" faraway lifeless planets.

While he's very dedicated to keeping the peace in his place (which he usually considers the inside of the saloon, but it sometimes extends to the town or the universe depending on his mood), he loves watching trouble happen outside it. Barkeep is a HUGE gossip, and regularly inserts himself into conversations where he's not wanted, briefly apologizes, then continues adding his thoughts. He can't help it; he has to be involved somehow, and getting him to shut up can be a bit of a challenge. As polite as he tries to be, he still can be very inconsiderate. One of the most extreme examples was when he created alternate universes with AU versions of his friends and chronicled their adventures. So yes, he wrote embarrassing AU fanfics of people he knew. He didn't mean for Sparks Nevada to find out.

Barkeep is not a fan of adventures, partially because of that one time he got stabbed when assisting on a hypercattle drive, but also because he doesn't want to worry his wife. He loves her dearly and will to anything to please her, showing that he does have a decent side to him (to people he feels protective towards, at least). Despite the potential of the omnipotent and omniscient Force Galactic, he uses it sparingly, usually for extremely dangerous situations (reviving a friend, telepathically warning others of danger, etc.) or for minor inconveniences like parting the clouds on a festival day.

From time to time, he doesn't mind the trouble that comes with being a hero, and a clever one at that. On that trip with Sparks, when the group was drifting off to space due to the gravity being turned off, he got the brilliant idea of using spray cans to push them back to the ground. When he was chosen as part of a team to fight Evil Jim, he stood back and watched the others charge and get killed immediately. While V'stalu wasn't allowed to directly interfere with mortals, he could bestow his cosmic space powers on Barkeep, which he did once asked. Barkeep them quickly dispatched Evil Jim, brought everyone back to life, rescued Sparks from an alternate dimension, and restored his saloon to its former glory. And much later, when Sparks and company were arguing who should take Barkeep's space powers to stop a world-eating monster, he teleported straight to it, had a lengthy conversation, and worked out a compromise.

Alright everyone, the name's Mordecai Benmont Jiminy, but most everyone calls me Barkeep on account of the saloon I run back on Mars. Of course, seeing that I don't got no saloon in this place, that title might as well be null and void.

Therefore, I'm currently looking for a tavern or restaurant or what-have-you in need of someone like me. I've got years of experience under my belt, so please, send me one of these Moogle-letters if you find something.

Much obliged,

Barkeep

P.S. If anyone finds a way to send messages to other worlds, please tell my wife not to worry about me. But someone has to watch over the saloon until I get back.
